Dreaming of sleeves that both fit beautifully and give a garment that little something extra? In this masterclass, you’ll learn step by step how to create sleeve patterns based on your own measurements, allowing you to create everything from clean, classic sleeves to more dramatic, fashion-forward silhouettes.

About the Course

In this course, you’ll learn how to construct a personalised sleeve block (sleeve cap and sleeve width) based on your own measurements. The course stands completely on its own – you don’t need to have attended any other courses to get the full benefit from it.

We’ll also construct a simple half-bodice from centre front to centre back. The purpose is to give you a correct starting point for the shoulder and armhole, so that you can see how the sleeve actually connects to the bodice. Fitting and adjusting the bodice itself is not the main focus of this course – the emphasis is firmly on sleeves.

Using your own sleeve block as a starting point, you’ll learn how to develop several different sleeve styles, for example:

• Classic set-in sleeve
• Bell sleeve / flared sleeve
• Puff sleeve in different heights
• Balloon sleeve (full towards the cuff)
• Circular sleeve / ruffle sleeve
• A more tailored sleeve with additional shaping

You’ll create your sleeve block based on your own measurements, develop different sleeve patterns, and sew sample sleeves in cotton calico. Along the way, you’ll learn how to fit the sleeve and make the necessary pattern adjustments for optimal fit and freedom of movement.
